The Vanishing Women
I love working on show opens. They're typically more high concept than other projects and effective ones artistically set the tone for the show that follows. They prepare the viewer for what they are about to watch by putting them in the right frame of mind. This was an open for a somber documentary series on ID Channel about missing women in a small in Ohio town, built upon an iconic river. The concept we landed on was to take the viewer on a journey of the town and surrounding areas during which, the profiles of the missing women are shown hidden along the river banks. The result is an engaging journey that evokes a feeling of loss. During the production process, I located usable parts of the river and the town on Google Earth, and gave these coordinates to our drone operator who then filmed the locations. It was like directing remotely and worked remarkably well.
